Ahern & Associates has developed a specific program to assist carriers in obtaining a satisfactory DOT rating. Ahern's safety review enables a carrier to review their current situation, which allows our consultants to provide suggestions specific to their operations. This, in turn permits a trucking company to maximize compliance of current federal regulations.
Ahern's review is conducted at the customer's facility with an Ahern & Associates safety consultant. Records that are requested and provided will be carefully examined regarding their compliance with the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Regulations ( FMCSR ) parts 382, 383, 390 - 397. Ahern will also review a trucking company's procedures for maintenance and updating those files.
The following areas will be included in Ahern's review:
- Driver qualification files - content and update procedures.
- DOT accident records and files;
- Driver logs - preparation, hours of service, falsification violations;
- Vehicle maintenance records - contact and update procedures.
- Drug/alcohol testing - policies, procedures and documentation.
- Brake and annual inspector certificates;
- Post - trip inspection records;
- Proof of financial responsibility ( MCS - 90 ).
Upon completion of the review, our findings are discussed with key members of the management staff. In an advisory capacity, Ahern & Associates will:
- Identify problems in your current record.
- Offer recommendations for procedures to maintain those records, and;
- Any questions you have regarding compliance with the pertinent regulations will also be addressed.
- A written report will be provided to the customer outlining the findings of our onsite visit.
If you are considering engaging Ahern's services, we require the following information immediately:
- Trip reports.
- Weight tickets.
- Daily fuel purchase summary by unit. (If you have Qualcomm, you should be able to provide this for each day).
- MCMIS report (carrier profile from FMCSA).
- Access to a computer mileage program.
- Roadside inspection reports for at least the last 4 months.
- Accident registers for the current year.
- Drug and alcohol files, MIS reports, and test logs for year to date, and;
- Driver qualification files and maintenance files.
Ahern's auditor will review at least 30 random truck drivers and will complete a random vehicle inspection as part of our fee.
